Prevalence, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Psychiatric Symptoms After Arterial Ischemic Stroke in Childhood: A Systematic Review

CONCLUSIONS: Our estimate that 11.4% of childhood AIS survivors exhibit psychiatric symptoms likely underestimates prevalence, given the absence of systematic psychiatric screening across included studies. The extent of underreporting also warrants further investigation. Treatment of psychiatric conditions arising after stroke in children and the psychiatric implications of advancing acute therapies such as endovascular thrombectomy should be evaluated.
